Countryside Rambles

Make the most of your visit to Wells and enjoy a leisurely stroll with your guide across the beautiful countryside.  All the routes are on public footpaths regularly walked by your guide.  You may like to include  a view of Glastonbury Tor across the Somerset Levels, a landscape steeped in ancient myth and legend.  Wandering through the woods you can stumble across a dramatic view of Wells Cathedral framed by the trees.
Follow the paths through Tor Hill Woods (National Trust), see abandoned lime kilns, visit the site of an Iron Age hill fort or simply walk along the track used in times gone by for horse drawn transport to avoid paying tolls on the main roads!  If you have younger children you may like to pass through a working farm or stop for a while in a playpark in the next village.  Don't forget your camera because wherever you walk you can be sure of stunning views of Wells Cathedral.
Various  routes are available from 1-4 hours (can include picnic or pub break).  You can discuss your group's requirements with the guide at the time of booking.
All rambles will leave from The Crown (a 15th century coaching inn), Market Place, Wells, BA5 2RP.  It takes only a few minutes on foot to get to open countryside from The Market Place.
Please ensure that you are dressed for the weather, have some water and a snack with you and are wearing suitable stout footwear. Please inform the guide about any medical condition that may affect your participation in the walk. Wells Walking Tours does have public liabilty insurance but you may like to consider taking out your own personal accident cover.
